Love So Amazing
“For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.” Galatians 5:6
As I read through Galatians this past week I found myself constantly going back to the book of John, and what really stuck with me was John 15:12-13 where Jesus tells the disciples, “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
This past week I came to a realization (with my darling wife’s help) that my pride, more often than not, gets in my way of loving the body of Christ and the work He is doing. How often does pride cause you to lose sight of the cross? When we are unwilling to relinquish our will we are showing a lack of faith that God’s plan will be accomplished, with or without us. Like the false teachers bringing in “practices” and “works” to the Galatians in order to worship God, our “rules”, our pride, or our (insert here) hinder the people God is trying to redeem and change into His image, yourself included.
Jesus changed everything.
Thankfully, we have been adopted into a family where love and forgiveness is a prerequisite. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection has given a world condemned under the law a chance to be free. But as Paul wrote in Galatians 5:3, “If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses.” There is no works based redemption program. We must live a life of faith, trusting in Jesus; that His redeeming blood has satisfied our debt to the law.
Jesus is changing everything.
As we walk with Jesus and continue in a knowledge of His word, our faith only grows stronger and our love only becomes deeper for those who are lost and those He brought into our family. I am amazed at the intricacy God has put into setting up a place for His sons and daughters to worship in Exodus. But I am even more amazed by the beauty and detail God put into place with His great plan of redemption for you and me. No longer are we slaves to the law, but we are free, Galatians 5:1, “So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”
His love so amazing:
When I lose sight of His marvelous light,
He pulls me back,
By His saving Grace, My hiding place;
His loving arms.
This, is where I find myself,
once more in love,
with this beautiful plan of redemption;
