This last week we spent time reading through the Old Testament book of Hosea. What an amazing glimpse into the heart of our God toward us wayward people!
We read how Hosea’s own marriage to a prostitute was an incredible example to the very people he was called to preach to. His wife was unfaithful to him, a shame to him &, we can assume, broke his heart over & over.
We see this as an example of how the Israelites turned from God, over & over. They forsook His ways, grieved His heart & were left in ruin. Over time, though, they came back to him, drawn by His loving kindness.
We read, how “I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as the Lord.”
How faithful the Lord is!
We later read how He restored them:
“But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.”
He is so very patient with His people, because they are precious to Him.
So too, He cares for us, and longs to have a right relationship with us. He is long suffering & faithful to reveal areas in our hearts & lives that are displeasing to Him, harmful to us, or that we need growth in.
Is there anything today that you sense He wants to work on? Is there an area of your heart or life that’s not surrendered to Him? Is there compromise where there should be purity?
Ask Him to reveal to you the areas that He wants to make clean & restore. He’s so very faithful to gently care for us & set us right.
