“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4
As I sat down to write the devotion for this past weeks reading, I kept coming back to this verse in Psalm 27. I thought of all the instruction and exhortation of the other books we read this past week but this verse always brings me back to what is really important in my life.
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, and that will I seek after”. I have to ask myself, what have I desired of Him this past week? Have I desired to dwell with Him, in his house, in His presence? In our busy world we get distracted with so many other things; the busyness of life, family, work, ministry, serving in our churches. None of these are wrong or bad but I find that I need to stop and reflect where am I with the Lord. Am I busy doing and serving like Martha, in Luke 10:38-42? Or am I sitting at Jesus’ feet as Mary did?
There are times when I need to “behold the beauty of the LORD” stop everything else and sit in His presence, offer sacrifices of joy, sing praises unto Him and worship Him alone. Take time this week to seek the LORD sit in His presence and enjoy Him allow Him to refresh, restore and renew you.
“One thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part,” let this be said of you and I this week, “One thing is needful: and ____________ has chosen that good part.”
