ABOUT US

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

Here's the deal, Calvary Chapel of Greece cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Calvary Greece is a family of individuals that know Jesus, follow Jesus, and live for Jesus; simply put, we want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom!

Where we come from

Calvary Chapel Greece began in 1981 as a home Bible Study with a few people gathered in a living room desiring to worship Jesus and to grow closer to Him. Bob Chappell, then an Assistant Pastor at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes, drove from Farmington, NY every week to teach a Bible study and lead the group and raised up a pastor and leadership team. Eventually, the study outgrew the living room and had to move to the local grange hall in the town of Greece, NY. As more families began to respond to the gospel, the fellowship had to move again to an old church building located in North Greece, its current location.

After planting a church in Southern California and serving the Lord in various capacities, Pastor Bob was asked to return to the church and became the Senior Pastor in 1994. In March 2010, Pastor Bob Chappell went home to be with the Lord. Following in the footsteps of his father, Micah Chappell accepted the position of Senior Pastor at Calvary Chapel. With a heart for the Lord and a love to worship Jesus, he continues to teach verse by verse through the Bible.

Where we're headed

What's the bottom line? More than ever, Calvary is committed to fostering a family built around knowing Jesus, following Jesus, and living for Jesus. As we move forward as a church family, those three points remain at the center of who we are as followers of Jesus.
